Dear Ramona,

Happy New Year! We made it. Yes, we got through our very first Christmas Season--through snow storms and blackouts and all the usual hustle and bustle of the holiday season. We made it. And it's because of YOU--our customer. We humbly say THANK YOU!

For me, it's a time to think about all the successes and challenges of the past year and create a fresh list of "to do's" for the coming year. The list changes from year to year but the very first item remains the same--Be happy. So this year I encourage you to BE HAPPY.

espresso
As a compliment to our most amazing European sipping chocolate and hot chocolate drinks, we now have outstanding espresso. What sets our drink bar apart from the others? It's simple--First, we use Mukilteo Coffee. Second, our chocolate sauce and caramel sauce used in all of our drinks is made fresh at our location. The chocolate sauce is made with Barry Callebaut premium organic cocoa and our caramel sauce has no added color or artificial flavoring. Third, we finish our gourmet drinks with fresh whipped cream or home-made marshmallows. It really doesn't get any better than this.

Come check out our new espresso machine and while you're here try one of our specialty hot chocolate drinks. For January we are featuring our Mucho Mocha Hot Chocolate--four ounces of our Definitely Dark Truffle Shot European Hot chocolate and a shot of espresso, steamed milk, fresh whipped cream, and a drizzle of Dancing Angel Chocolate Sauce. Are you tempted?
Fun was had by all at our very first Fudge for Four Class. We started off making a plain chocolate fudge and while the batch was still warm we pulled and hand rolled fudge that was later dipped in decadent white chocolate and finished with colored sprinkles. For our second batch we added pecans to the mix for the nut lovers and we finished with a batch of Pumpkin Fudge in celebration of the holidays. Each student took home lots of fudge, lots of fudge dips, and base recipes for both dark and white fudge.

It was so much fun that I think it would be fun to do it again. So if you missed the very first Fudge Class, don't fret. Gather a friend or two and give me a call and we'll do it again. The cost for each student is $65.00 All supplies are provided and you'll have fudge to take home.
truffles
With the announcement of new truffles naturally comes the departure of old friends. We'll be removing the following truffles from our gourmet truffle line-up: Brandy Blues, Early Grey, Raspberry Breeze, The Art of Orange, Crabby Caramel, Tahitian Vanilla Shell, Molly Mango, and Winds of Mint Sailboat.

The new line up includes Dark Kokonut, Rum Raisin, Maple Nut, Cinnamon Sin-sation, and Peanut Gianduja. New truffles will be in the case mid-January and we are still taking suggestions. So don't be shy. Tell us what you want! E-mail me at monalynn@whidbey.com.
valentine
Valentine's Day is fast approaching. Would you like to make chocolates for that special someone in your life? You can! With a little help from the chocolatier and an evening playing in the chocolate you can fill the love cup to overflowing this Valentine's Day. Are you game? Call me at 221-2728 and we'll do it. Classes will be held 5:30 pm to finish, each evening Monday through Friday beginning February 1st. Cost is $65.00 per class. All supplies will be provided and each participant will have a Valentine's Day box of truffles for their special someone.
So many times people have said that our sipping chocolate is like what they have had in Spain. And so we're off to find out first hand if that's true. We will be visiting the Museum of Chocolate and several chocolaterias in Spain and hope to return with new chocolate delicacies to offer to our customers. While we're away, our wonderful staff, Sandy, Susan and Julie will be at 1 Angel Place, Chocolate Bar to ensure that all doors still lead to chocolate.
Chocolate of the Month Club is in the works. Wouldn't it be nice if every month you automatically got chocolate in the mail? Well, that's the plan and next month we'll announce the Chocolate of the Month Club and give a listing of each month's featured chocolate.

Retail hours at 1 Angel Place, Chocolate Bar are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm every day, even Sunday and our on- line store is open for your shopping convenience 24 hours a day 7 days a week. No mail shipments will be made until after January 8th, 2007.

"The best made plans are those that are flexible." I'm not sure who originally said this but it's one of my favorites.

Yours in chocolate,
